A productive seminar on the Sindh Rangelands Policy 2026 was held on 14th May 2026 at the office of the Chief Conservator of Forests (Mangroves & Rangelands), Forest Campus, Model Colony, Karachi.
A productive seminar on the Sindh Rangelands Policy 2026 was held on 14th May 2026 at the office of the Chief Conservator of Forests (Mangroves & Rangelands), Forest Campus, Model Colony, Karachi.
Senior officers from the Sindh Forest Department, along with consultants from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), representatives from the livestock sector, and other key stakeholders participated in the policy-making session. Attendees joined both in person and via Zoom.
Key participants included Raiz Ahmed Wagan (CCF Mangroves Sindh), Saleem Vistro (CCF Rangelands & Biodiversity Parks Sindh), Agha Hyder Durrani (Provincial Project Director, UGPP Sindh), and UNDP consultants Fazal Bari and Niaz Ahmed.
During the session, experts shared valuable insights, recommendations, and strategic inputs aimed at the revival and strengthening of the Sindh Rangelands Policy 2026. Key areas of discussion included the demarcation of protected forest lands, conservation of rangeland species, and the preservation of flora and fauna across major rangeland regions.
Additionally, the feasibility and calculation of carbon credits, along with eco-tourism interventions, were proposed as important components to be incorporated into the policy framework.
The seminar concluded with closing remarks from Raiz Ahmed Wagan, who expressed appreciation and gratitude to all stakeholders and participants for their valuable contributions.
